Australian Adult Retail History Website Launched

The Sex ’69 website was officially launched by Fiona Patten MP – Leader of the Reason Party – on November 30, 2019 at iconic LGBTQI bookshop Hares and Hyenas in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
Drawing from a combination of historical and contemporary material, including written information, images, interviews, questionnaire responses, articles and sound recordings, Sex ’69 gives a window into the commodified space of the Adult retail world and give a voice to the hidden and often stigmatised truth of Adult Retail proprietors, the workers and their unique milieu.
As part of the launch there was:
Speeches by VIP members of the Adult Retail Industry
A performance by Six Inches Uncut – a cabaret deviant, smut poet, and really bad drag queen
Video footage on display by female porn-makers Permission4Pleasure, Lightsouthern Cinema and Erika Lust Films
A display of banned books
A goodies bag featuring items from Adult Industry sponsors and contributors
